Many local history and family genealogy books published in the last 100-150 years were originally printed in "short-runs"...usually between 100 and 300 copies. Because of these small-volume printings, these books are often very rare and difficult to acquire. Janaway Publishing, Inc. produces many of these archival-quality reprints from their own private library, and has access to thousands of more titles though other sources. With this service, you now have the opportunity to acquire these books for your personal research, or to pass them on to other generations.

Our Print-on-Demand books are special orders and produced one-at-a-time. The pages are reproduced, digitally-enhanced, and printed on acid-free paper. Illustrations are included but the quality is not often equal to that of the original.

Binding

Paperback Binding: The standard binding for most of the genealogy books is paperback, and the method used will depend upon the supplier and the thickness of the book. Most suppliers, including Janaway Publishing, use "perfect binding" for their paperbacks, which consists of glue and reinforcement at the spine. A few suppliers will use comb or coil binding. Shorter books (10 to 20 pages) may be staple-bound.

Hardcover Binding: Attractive, durable hardcover binding is available for $12.00. Depending on the supplier, the color of cloth binding will vary, but most often it will be blue, red, gray or green. Some hardcover binding will be four-color laminated.

Delivery

Generally, allow four to six weeks for delivery. Please remember, these books are printed on-demand, and usually one-at-a-time.

Returns

As explained above, Print-on-Demand books are special orders and produced one-at-a-time. Because of the production method, returns are allowed only for defective books...books which have been damaged or printed incorrectly. In those cases, the book will be replaced, but there will be no refunds.
