Thinking only of the bravery and mighty deeds of the Tennessee Calvary, this volume has taken on the task of portraying the regimental history of the Fourth Tennessee Calvary. Originally from Jefferson County Tennessee, the author served in Company C of the Fourth Tennessee Calvary until his capture during the McCook Raid on July 31, 1864. He gives a firsthand account of the movements, battles, and issues concerning the political and military situation in East Tennessee as well as the surrounding areas. A roster of personnel of the Fourth Tennessee Cavalry is provided, and information on promotions, status, deaths, and other personnel information. An Itinerary of the Fourth Tennessee Cavalry is also included. Alexander Eckel served in the Fourth Regiment of the Tennessee Volunteer Cavalry and was captured on the McCook Raid on July 31, 1864.
