This book contains the memoirs of a Kentucky soldier, Lieutenant Lot D. Young, of Paris Kentucky, who dedicated his work to "those who wore the Gray and to their children and children's children." The author provides his recollections of the battles of Shiloh, Vicksburg, Murfreesboro, Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, Missionary Ridge, Dallas, and Atlanta, in addition to many other specifics of his four-year experience as a soldier in the celebrated Orphan Brigade.
