The Probate Records of Lincoln County, Maine 1760-1800

This book contains copies of the wills filed in the Probate Court for Lincoln County from the year 1760 to the year 1800 and brief abstracts of the records of the proceedings of that court during the same period. The author, in preparing this work, transcribed all of the wills and abstracted all of the administrations of estates found in the Lincoln County courthouse. The wills, as one might expect, provide the name of the testator and witnesses, and the dates of the will's origination and probate. The information contained in the administrations provide the name of the deceased with the date of death, the heirs and their place of residence, the appointment of any guardians with the date of appointment, the names of the individual appraising the estate, and other information related to the handling of the estate.
