Building Neighborhoods was conceived as an attempt to discover exactly who were the earliest settlers on Martin's Creek but, eventually, grew in scope to include all of Old Jackson County, Tennessee. This work consists of early land records abstracted from microfilm of the original record books from Record group 50, Early Land Records, located in the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Information included for each entry: The record book number, the page number, entry number, and the description. Interspersed throughout are the author's enlightening explanations and comments regarding facts, events, entries, individuals, and relationships. A full index is provided at the end of the volume.
