Marriages and Deaths from the Cambria Tribune, Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Vol. V (1881 1885)Marriages and Deaths from the Cambria Tribune, Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Vol. V (1881 1885). Patricia Wainwright Collins. Softcover, (1986) repr. 1993, New, 8.5 X 11, Index, 302 pp.
The Cambria Tribune began publishing in 1853 as a weekly paper. In 1873, daily (except Sunday) papers were issued. What was once the Cambria Tribune still exists, in essence, as the current Johnstown Tribune-Democrat. This book, Volume V, continues the marriage and death notices from those early papers. Though published in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania, the extracts contain vital data concerning residents of many counties, states, and countries. This volume contains over 6,500 names. Although Volume V covers items published from 1881 through 1885, many previously deceased persons are mentioned, due to the inclusion of longer and more complete obituaries. Some give data for three or four generations! I have dropped the heretofore separate locality index, purely to save cost and space. Those ministers and justices who are mentioned as having performed marriage ceremonies are indexed in lower-case letters. CP308 |
