The county of Boone is centrally located in Indiana. It is surrounded to the north by Clinton County, the south by Hendricks County, and to the east and west by Hamilton and Montgomery Counties respectively. The early history of Boone begins with a short geographical description of the county and its townships, and is followed by a section entitled 'Communications,' an autobiographical collection of 14 statements made by Boone residents. Other interesting topics covered include the geology of Boone, court and county officials, information on the 25 Churches in Boone, the biographies of over 175 of the earliest county residents, and a selection of letters written by the author while gathering information for this book. Poems and illustrations can be found throughout these pages, and the original index is supplemented with an additional new fullname index. [H2301]
