Are your books "New" or "Used"?
Most all of our books are “As New” or
“New,” both terms meaning new. We do, however, occasionally have
a used book in inventory, and those books are identified as
such, and the condition is described.
Where does Janaway get all of its
books?
We purchase from all of the major
genealogical publishing houses in the United States, as well as
from many small or independent publishers. We also publish many
our own books, most of which are reprints of rare or
out-of-print books. Janaway also has numerous “Print-on-Demand”
books, which are generally printed as a single copy. These
print-on-demand books are printed under our QuickPrint! titles,
and are available in Hardcover or comb binding.
Are all of the items on the Website
in stock?
We strive to maintain 75% to 80% of all books
listed, and still in print, in stock and immediately available
for shipment. Occasionally, we will deplete our stock of a
particular book, but, as a rule, that book has already been
ordered and is on its way. Most of our publishers have our
orders to us within seven to eight business days from the date
of order.
If a book is "Out-of-Print," will it
be reprinted?
Most books that are currently shown as
"Out-of-Print," are really "Temporarily Out-of-Print." The
publishers, as a general practice, will reprint the books when
they determine there is sufficient demand to justify reprinting
the book. When we place our orders with our publishers, we order
those books that have been requested...even though we know them
to be out-of-print. This is one of the methods the publishers
use to determine demand for out-of-print items. If you see a
book you would like to purchase that is currently out-of-print,
please let us know...this information will be passed on to the
publisher.
Will Janaway Genealogy Books special order a book?
We will be happy to special order an
item, if it can be located. It would be very helpful if we know
the author, the exact title, or any other information relative
to the item requested. If the book is published by one of our
publishers, there is no extra charge. On the other hand, if it
is a used or rare book, or is purchased from a publisher we do
not normally use, there is a service charge.
Why is it that no items are listed
under some States or categories?
Although we would like to carry
genealogy books and products that represent every Country,
State, County, Ethnic Group, or category, we have to focus our
resources in those areas our customers have shown an interest.
If you have specific requests, or if there are categories or
subjects you would like to see in our inventory, please let us
know. Your requests and purchases are what determine our
inventory.
What are the SHIPPING COSTS when
purchasing through Janaway Genealogy?
Our experience has shown that the most
consistently reliable method of shipping is through the United
States Postal Service. Consequently, we ship exclusively with
USPS. Our SHIPPING RATES are as follows:

How quickly are items shipped after
purchase, and how quickly will I received my book?
Depending on when the order is
received, the item is processed either the day of the order, or
on the following business day, and the item is generally shipped
the day of processing, or the following day.
HOWEVER, the speed of delivery is most
often dependent upon your choice of the shipping method.
Packages sent by “Priority Mail,” or "Express Mail" are the most
expedient methods, and will generally reach their destination
within one to four delivery days, depending on the method
selected. “Media Mail,” on the other hand, is much more
economical, and will generally reach its destination in seven to
10 days. Because of the higher costs of "Express" and
"Priority," most of our customers choose to ship “Media Mail.”
If speed is important, we recommend
“Priority Mail,” or "Express Mail." If economy is your criteria,
“Media Mail” would be an appropriate choice.
What is Janaway Genealogy’s RETURN
POLICY?
Returns are permitted if the book is in
the same condition as it was when purchased, and approval is
granted by Janaway within 30 days from the date of purchase. ALL
RETURNS REQUIRE PRIOR APPROVAL BY JANAWAY.
There is a 25% RESTOCKING FEE for all
returns.
